This year’s participants in the Grovetown Police Department’s annual Summer Camp are off to a great start!

Today, they spent time at Woodland Place Camp, doing a little fishing and getting to learn about a few of the farm’s animals in the process.

We appreciate Woodland Place Camp for having us back this year, and can’t wait to see what else the kids get into for this year’s Summer Camp!

BLASTING NOTICE (June 1-15, 2026)
Location: between the end of Peri Leigh Road and Harlem Grovetown Road

Columbia County would like to inform residents that our contractor will utilize controlled blasting to remove rock for the new sewer main we are installing. This is for the Harlem/Euchee Creek Interceptor Project that consists of approximately 9 miles of new 18” gravity sewer to better serve our customers south of I20. This line will extend from Harlem, mainly following Euchee Creek to just north of Grovetown to convey sewage ultimately to our treatment plant at Little River.

The areas indicated by the red line are the only area there could potentially be controlled blasting, June 1-15, 2026 (excluding weekends).

These blasts typically go off in rapid succession and sound like muffled gunshots. Blast mats are used to prevent flying debris and to muffle the sound. Blasting subcontractors are licensed or permitted by the Federal and State Governments to perform this work. There may be more than one blast per day, and they may not have to blast every day next week. Blasting will only take place between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM.

**The work will be between the end of Peri Leigh Road and Harlem Grovetown Road.
