MISSING CHILDREN-PLEASE SHARE

The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating three brothers reported missing from the Apple Springs area.

Brock McNeil – 16 years old

Deveon McNeil – 15 years old

Major Jones – 12 years old

The boys have been missing since approximately 5:00 PM on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Family members believe the boys may have traveled toward the Lufkin area, but their current location is unknown.
Community members in the Apple Springs area reported seeing three boys walking along Highway 94 toward Lufkin between approximately 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM on September 4, 2026.

We are asking anyone who may have seen these boys, picked them up, given them a ride, or who may know where they are currently staying to please contact law enforcement.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: PLEASE TALK TO YOUR FAMILY ABOUT THIS 🚨

Scammers are getting smarter, and our elderly residents continue to be some of their biggest targets. Please take a few minutes today to talk with your parents, grandparents, neighbors, and anyone who may be vulnerable to these scams.

Technology has changed the game. Criminals can now use AI to imitate a family member’s voice. You may receive a call that sounds like your son, daughter, or grandchild saying they have been arrested, injured, stranded, or are in some other emergency and need money immediately.

Scammers can also spoof phone numbers and caller ID. Your phone may show a local number, a law enforcement agency, a government office, or even a number belonging to someone you know. Caller ID is no longer proof of who is actually calling.

Watch for these warning signs:

• They create an emergency and pressure you to act immediately.
• They tell you not to contact other family members.
• They claim to be law enforcement and threaten arrest or fines.
• They demand gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or unusual forms of payment.
• They ask for Social Security numbers, banking information, passwords, or other personal information.

🔐 CREATE A FAMILY CODE WORD

Every family should consider choosing a private code word or phrase that only trusted family members know. If someone calls claiming to be your child or grandchild and says they are in an emergency, ask for the code word.

Do not make it something easily guessed from Facebook or social media. Keep it private and make sure your family knows never to give the code word to someone who calls or texts asking for it.

Most importantly, SLOW DOWN. Scammers depend on fear and urgency. Hang up and call your family member directly using a number you already have saved. If someone claims to be from law enforcement, hang up and independently call the agency.

BURN BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT 🔥

We have received several phone calls and messages asking whether the burn ban has been lifted. Although Trinity County received several inches of rain, that does not mean the burn ban has been lifted.

The Sheriff and Sheriff’s Office have no authority to issue or lift a burn ban. That decision is made strictly by the Trinity County Commissioners Court.

Until an official announcement is made by the Commissioners Court, please do not burn. Recent rainfall does not automatically make outdoor burning legal or safe.

Please share this reminder and help prevent unnecessary fires.

🌧️ WEATHER UPDATE: TRINITY COUNTY 🌧️

September 3rd, 2026 11:00AM

The Flood Advisory for Trinity, Houston, Madison and Walker counties expired at 10:45 a.m.

The heavier rainfall has moved out for now, although light to occasionally moderate rain remains possible. Additional Flood Advisories or Flash Flood Warnings could be issued later today if heavy rainfall moves back into our area.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

Please continue to follow all road closures and never drive around barricades or through standing water. Some roads and low-water crossings may remain dangerous even after the rain slows down.

We will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates as necessary.

Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

🌧️ EAST TEXAS WEATHER UPDATE 🌧️

At my location here in Trinity County, we received a little over 2 inches of rain today, and we are not finished yet.

The remnants of Tropical Depression Edouard will continue moving slowly across East Texas tonight. Trinity County has a 90% chance of rain, with showers and thunderstorms capable of producing additional heavy rainfall. The current forecast calls for another three-quarters of an inch to 1 inch overnight, but locally higher amounts are possible wherever storms repeatedly move across the same area.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for Trinity County through 7:00 a.m. Thursday. Other portions of East Texas could receive an additional 1 to 4 inches, with isolated higher totals. Roads, low-water crossings, creeks and poor-drainage areas could flood quickly. Rivers may also continue rising after the rain stops.

Please remain weather aware tonight, especially if you must travel. Never drive through flooded water or around a barricade. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
