Tonight, the Lucia Mar School Board voted to keep The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison in the AG High School Library. Trustees who voted to ban the book: Mike Fuller and Eilene Pham. Trustees who voted to keep the book: Stewart, Martin, Santos & Kandel. Naemi-Vergne asked to place restrictions on the book, but ended up voting with the majority 5-2.

NOTICE OF ENDORSEMENT OPPORTUNITY:

The San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party (SLOCDP) is accepting applications for our endorsement for the November 3rd, 2026 election for the following races:

• City of San Luis Obispo – Mayor
• City of San Luis Obispo – City Council (2 seats)
• City of Paso Robles – City Council (District 1)
• City of Atascadero – City Council (1 seat)
• Atascadero Unified School District – Trustee (2 seats)
• Lucia Mar Unified School District – Trustee (Area 5, Area 7)
• City of Grover Beach – Mayor

The application period will open Monday, June 8th, and all applications must be complete and submitted on or before Tuesday, June 30th 2026 at 6PM.

Candidates wishing to be considered for endorsement by the SLOCDP should allow sufficient time for us to receive copies of necessary filing information from the Secretary of State as they plan their application.

Interview scheduling information will be made available to eligible candidates following receipt of completed applications.

Requests to receive a copy of our endorsement application (as well as any questions or completed forms) should be directed to [email protected] no later than Thursday, June 25th at 6PM.
