Happy Friday and Happy Groveport Day!!

According to Groveport Police Dept. historian Sgt. Ernie Bell, the the 1st village marshal was elected, along with a mayor and treasurer, at the time of the village's founding. That marshal was William James.

While we don't have any photos of him or from that pre-1900 era we do have these hand drawn images that were found a while back in city storage. The drawings depict lamp lighting which was one of the tasks assigned to the village marshal.

Ofc. Herrera and Lt. Short got to meet Ohio State Buckeye football great DeVier Posey at Glendening Elementary School this morning. He was there with Team Tressel Fitness Challenge teaching the student Gators about strength training, conditioning, nutrition, and rest and recovery. All of the kids paid rapt attention and the volunteers were very impressive with their displays of strength and speed!!

One of our sergeants received this text earlier today. After calling the Ohio Toll Commission, they advised that they DO NOT send out texts about unpaid tolls.

A few weeks ago some folks had posted about seeing some goats in the field along Old Hamilton Rd across from Motts Military Museum, Inc .

This afternoon Lt. Short found the real G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all Time) Warren Motts hanging out in the field. After a brief chase of his hat, that the wind had swept off and rolled across the mud, Short was able to wrangle him in for a couple pictures.

Mr. Motts is always armed with a big smile and hug looking to brighten your day. He is a local legend for sure!!
