THROWBACK THURSDAY! ⏳

🚒 Pictured here is the Madison Township Fire Engine House on College Street near Canal Street in Groveport, shortly after its completion in the spring of 1947.

👨🏼‍🚒 For nearly four decades, this station proudly served the community before being replaced by newer facilities: Fire Station 181 (this station) moved to Fire House Lane and South Hamilton Road in 1985, and Fire Station 182 on Gender Road was added in 1996.

🚔 The township’s police force was established in 1972 and also operated out of this College Street station. In 1995, the Police Department moved into new headquarters on Madison Lane.

📢 To prevent confusion during these conditions, Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security will suspend the noon test of the Franklin County Outdoor Warning Siren System today (5/27/26).

🏘️ If the sirens do sound, it means the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for the area, and residents should take immediate action to seek shelter and stay safe.

THROWBACK THURSDAY! 🎓

👏 Today (5/21/26) is also the last day of school for Groveport Madison Schools. Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

📸 We dug into the archives and found this photo from May 21, 1956 - Cruiser graduation day exactly 70 years ago today. For years, GM graduations occurred in June.

Fun Facts:
🏫 The Class of 1956 was the last class to graduate from the school known today as Groveport Elementary. Back then the school housed every grade level.

🏀 That graduation was held in the gym next door (today’s Middle School Central gym) because it had more seating. Plus, the gym doubles as an auditorium, complete with a separate stage at one end. Some call this style a "gymitorium".

🗞 58 seniors graduated in 1956, compared to nearly 500 in this year’s class.

🗣️ Salutatory and valedictory speeches were delivered by Gary Throp and Ronnie Caldwell, respectively.

Here’s how it works:
🐾 Guests will receive punch cards and explore vendor booths as part of a fun scavenger hunt
🎁 Participating vendors provide a FREE dog-friendly giveaway (treats, toys, bandanas, etc.)
✨ The City will supply a vendor kit with signage + punch card stickers to help you stand out

Not joining the hunt? No problem!
🐕 We still encourage all vendors to offer dog-friendly items. This event will draw a solid crowd of dog lovers!
