⚠️ WATER ALERT ⚠️

UPDATE: 6:00 PM:

A precautionary boil water advisory is in place following a pump failure at Groveland’s Sunshine Water Plant that temporarily impacted water service.

Crews have restored pump function, and no infiltration into the water system was found that would indicate a public health concern. However, out of an abundance of caution, the advisory remains in effect.

UPDATE: 10:20 AM: Due to the precautionary boil water advisory in effect, we will be conducting water bottle distributions at the Cherry Lake Prep car lines for affected residents.

Location: 119 Wilson Lake Pkwy, Groveland, FL 34736
Distribution will be one case of bottled water per vehicle.
Today: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

UPDATE: 8:45 AM: While crews have restored pump function at the Sunshine Water Plant, it will take the next several hours for some residents to see full water pressure.

Because of the interconnected nature of the water system and the terrains of certain neighborhoods, water pressures across the City may have been impacted as the system worked to keep up with demand.

The list of areas impacted by the precautionary advisory includes:

• Wilson Lake Pkwy and adjacent neighborhoods
• State Road 19 north of Cherry Lake Road and adjacent neighborhoods
• Phillips Landing
• U.S. 27 Corridor and adjacent neighborhoods

UPDATE: 8:00 AM: Crews have successfully restored service. The City did not have infiltration into the system that would cause a public health concern, however a precautionary boil water advisory remains in effect.

The cause of the pump failure is still under investigation. More information is forthcoming.

UPDATE 6:45 AM: Crews remain on site attempting to get the pumps restored and pressure back up. This post has been updated with those neighborhoods impacted and under a boil water advisory.

UPDATE 6:20 AM: The Sunshine Water Plant, servicing the northern end of the City, experienced a situation where all of its pumps went offline at about 5:07 a.m.

Plant staff are currently on site trying to get the pumps restarted. The cause of the failure is being looked into. The drop in pressure along the Wilson Lake corridor triggers a boil water advisory. Those neighborhoods impacted are forthcoming.

5:55 AM: The City is aware of a reported water outage impacting the northern end of our service area. Crews are responding and working to identify the issue causing the outage. Updates will be provided as they are received.

🌿 Our Conservation team recently welcomed Florida Field Club for an educational tour focused on Wilson Island and the importance of preserving this special part of our community.

Students learned about the island’s natural resources, the Palatlakaha River, public access and the City’s efforts to help protect the property for future generations. 🌱🌊

STARTING TODAY: Youth basketball makes a big comeback in Groveland! If you're interested in registering your child, make sure to have them come to the Nathaniel Community Gymnasium (13806 SR-33) on their scheduled night.

Assessments take place this week, see times below:

• Monday, September 14: Ages 5-6 at 6:00 p.m. and ages 9-10 at 7:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, September 15: Ages 7-8 at 6:00 p.m. and ages 11-12 at 7:00 p.m.
• Thursday, September 17: Ages 13-15 at 6:30 p.m.

Southeastern Fast Pitch Softball held a two-day tournament at South Lake Regional Park over the weekend! We were excited to welcome 23 teams with players from across our region under 10 years old.

💧 HYDRANT FLUSHING NOTICE

The City of Groveland will be flushing fire hydrants Monday, Sept. 14, through Friday, Sept. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

📍 Areas include: Downtown, Sunrise Ridge, Preserve at Sunrise, Cypress Bluff, Villa City and surrounding areas. See the attached maps for the areas planned for flushing.

Residents may notice temporary lower water pressure or water discoloration. The water is safe to use. If needed, run your tap for 10–15 minutes to clear discoloration.
