Strong storm front passed through last night. High winds caused a bit of damage.

Your Cowskin FD was on alert! We were out and about till the wee hours of the morning; checking downed powerlines and clearing roads so Emergency Services can get in and you can get out. We used up our share of mixed fuel in our chainsaws to say the least.

Early this morning Cowskin fire department and surrounding departments were sent out to a structure fire.
These teams worked strongly together to get the fire extenguished.

A tornado watch has been issued for much of eastern Oklahoma through 1 am CST Monday. A few tornadoes are likely as are wind gusts to around 90 mph. Stay weather aware and be ready to take shelter if a warning is issued.

Potential for Extreme Weather this evening. All residents should exercise caution and be aware of the weather. Multiple area agencies will be monitoring the storm. Major concerns at the moment will be downed trees, power lines and flying debris. Assume all electric lines to be live. Stay indoors, avoid windows, seek shelter in interior rooms if you do not have a basement or a storm cellar. Stay safe.

UPDATED: The Winter Storm Warning has been expanded to include Tulsa and Creek counties. Scattered sleet amounts up to 1/2 inch and ice accumulations up to 1/10 inch possible through 6 pm today. Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Watch both in effect through 6 am Wed. for parts of the area.

Our Fire Chief: Terry Brown leads by example. First on scene and last to leave. He gives so much of his time and 30+ years of experience to our community and our department.

This is a great perspective after Friday night's firefight at Grove’s Outrigger Motel on Hwy 59 North. A well deserved break to catch one's breath and something to drink to stay hydrated.
