ORV Trail: Daily from sunrise to sunset

Day Use: Sunrise to Sunset $5 per car

Office: Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday

The Buck's Pocket State Park OHV Trail will be closed to all OHV and foot traffic on October 11, 2026, for the History on Horseback program.

The only horses allowed on the trail that day will be those registered for the program, which is now sold out.

The trail will reopen the following day. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you back on the trail on October 12!

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, lace up your hiking boots and join the Naturalist for an early morning guided hike along the Sauty Creek trail as we explore the rich biodiversity of Buck’s Pocket!

This will be a ~3-mile out-and-back hike over moderate terrain with some rocky areas. Attendees are encouraged to bring water, sturdy footwear, and bug spray!

This will be a 0.6-mile out-and-back hike over moderate terrain with stops along the way.

Did you know you can volunteer at Buck's Pocket State Park in exchange for a campsite? We currently have openings for camp hosts who can provide assistance in the office and be available to guests after the campground store is closed.

On July 4, 2026, gather around the campfire for an evening of storytelling!

At this Campfire Talk program, the Naturalist will be telling the incredible true story of Nancy “Granny” Dollar, Buck’s Pocket’s most famous historical figure! Born in Buck’s Pocket in 1826, Granny Dollar was the daughter of a Cherokee father and an Irish-Cherokee mother. She survived the Trail of Tears, took care of her 25 siblings, and lived to be 107 years old.

Bring a camp chair or blanket, as seating will be limited!
