It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helwestern Firefighter Tena Chancey.

Obituary
Tena Marie Chancey, 49, of Grove Hill, passed away February 13, 2023. She was born August 17, 1973, to parents Jack and Sarah Hudson Chancey. Tena's children and her granddaughter were her world, she loved them more than anything. She was employed at Walgreens in Jackson. She never met a stranger, if she did shortly after they felt like a friend or family. She always greeted everyone with a smile and a kind word. Not to say she wasn't opinionated, she was. Tena never held back on letting anyone know what she thought. If she liked or loved you she would do anything she could to help you. She loved riding on 4 wheelers and rangers. The mud didn't bother her at all. She loved volunteering with the Hellwestern Fire Department and the excitement of going on all the calls. She loved her brother and she was her sister's best friend, they had many good times together. She also became like a second mother, aunt, sister, and friend to so many, Tena loved each and every one of the young people that frequently visited her home. She will be truly missed by her family and loving friends.
Preceded in death by her parents.
Survived by her husband Dustin Jackson, children Annie Chancey and Hunter Jackson, granddaughter Addison Harrison, siblings James (Tammy) Chancey, April (Bobby) Tillman, numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Jackson, Dustin Jackson, Aaron Tillman, Chandler Griffith, Jbird Chancey, Daniel Tilman. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Tilman, Colby Chancey, Preston Freeman, Bobby Tilman, Chris Harrell, Jacob Harrell, Briley Moore, Jobe Jay, Nat Council, Cody Barron, Carter Davis, Tony Alday, and Dalton Green.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home on Friday, February 17, 2023, with a visitation one hour prior to services with Rev. Jonathan Hudson officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Ulcanush Baptist Cemetery in Coffeeville following the services.
