Aaron Schlabach for Grove City Council At-Large My name is Aaron Schlabach. I was raised in Grove City, my wife and I are raising our family here.

I will do all that I can to make our hometown the best it can be. I always love hearing the ideas from my fellow Grove Citians, so please reach out.

During my time on council I floated this idea. The city's actual revenue out paced the projected revenue by more than the entirety of the property tax revenue. Meaning we could have eliminated the city's portion of your property taxes with no negative to the city's budget. I got blank stares.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced that a petition to abolish property tax has been approved. The Ohio Attorney General's Office has approved the petition

Pay attention to your elected officials. They often avoid saying anything serious or of consequence on their pages or in public.

I had hoped that people like Frank Underwood were fictional or only in the grand theater of federal office, but that isn't the case. You'll never know what most elected officials actually believe, relying on their friendship status to gain the support needed without making any actual stand.

I am transparent on what I think and always open to learning. Most elected officials (yes, likely even your old friend and neighbor) will change what they believe and say in order to keep them in office.

Nobody actually supports DEI programs. When the rubber meets the road, you want the best person for the job.

Furthermore, to actually choose people because of their race, s*x, or s*xuality means you are racist, or s*xist. You are judging people based on immutable characteristics.

When my wife was in labor with twins, or when my mother in law was being treated for cancer, I did not want the best white straight doctor, I wanted the best doctor. In fact I couldn't tell you the race of anyone in the OR when my twins were born because it is irrelevant.

The amount of privilege someone has to have to organize their life around those things is astounding.

DEI requires force, exclusion, and prejudice.

All people must be treated fairly and equally regardless of the genetic happenstance of their birth.

There seems to be confusion, nuance lost and trenches dug on the concept of DEI. Allow me to explain my position simply.

Diversity: No serious person is against diversity happening. Forcing diversity is a scourge.

Inclusion: Like diversity, in most places Inclusion is simply an open door allowing people to join the conversations. Forcing some people out to include others is abhorrent.

Equity: This is the poison pill. To advocate for the same results is disgusting. It removes the individual and tells you that all you are is what you are.

In practice it is used to justify using law to treat people differently and as nothing more than the sum of your parts.

I stand for the individual, not the group. I do not care what someone is, only who. I do not ask if a law is better for a race, a s*x, or a s*xuality, I ask if the law is just and equal.

If you treat anyone differently due to their race, s*x, or s*xuality (even if you believe you are doing it from a place of care) *you* are the one in the wrong.

Too often those in power only consider their personal virtue and desired results for their actions and almost never consider that their actions will have unintended results.

Tomorrow is election day, the culmination of months of work and strife.

Vote for the candidate endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge 9 and the Buckeye Fi****ms Association who wants a safe city.

Vote for the candidate endorsed by Frank LaRose, the candidate that stands for fiscal responsibility.

Vote for the candidate that seeks to limit government, not use it to pass HOA laws.

I ask for your consideration for Grove City Council At-Large again.

Some things that I have yet to grow accustomed to in campaigning or as an elected official is people knowing who I am. I have met people at the grocery store who already know me, extra humbling when it happens at a time I haven't shaved and I'm wearing an old t-shirt. Another thing that I have not grown accustomed to is having people like Frank LaRose reach out to me and ask to help me. I thank Secretary LaRose for his support of my campaign to see Grove City into the future in a responsible way for everyone.

In 2018, just a few weeks after my oldest was born, I spoke before City Council for the first time. There was a business petitioning the city to be allowed to build a gun store and indoor range in the city. I spoke strongly in favor of their right to have that business and the economic boon of having a draw like that in our city. I have always been a strong second amendment supporter, and there are forces that seek to subvert that right federally, statewide, and even locally. Today, I am honored to say that I have been endorsed by the Buckeye Fi****ms Association for my city council race.

There is always a big discussion regarding the importance of public safety during every election, after all we need to be safe from harm in order to flourish.

Given my time as the chair of the public safety committee and my commitment to ensuring a safe and thriving city, the Capital City Lodge 9 Fraternal Order of Police voted to Endorse my campaign.

Aaron Schlabach, the choice for a safe and thriving Grove City.

From my childhood in the 90's, I have heard that for years there was a desire for a community center in Grove City. In late 2021, I was speaking with The YMCA in Grove City about the renovation they were planning and it made me think more about a community center. If we were to do this, it would be best to be centrally located, close to services, have green space, and preferably not requiring too much in the way of development.

Brookpark is all of the above. It is right next to the city water park, has a large patch of green space for outdoor activities, and the building is already there. Inside, there is a large kitchen, auditorium, gym, and classrooms. It would cost the city money to renovate it accordingly, of course, but that would be minimal compared to building a brand new "gold plated" facility. A simple solution that will save taxpayers money, and give Grove City a facility to offer even more to families.

We don't have to overthink problems or make things more difficult than necessary to get what we need and want. I promise to find simple solutions and not waste taxpayer money to solve a problem and to not let pride be my guide.
