📚 Throwback Thursday…with a purpose!

The ACGC Social Studies Department has new textbooks, and we’re excited to dive into them this year!

To help protect our new books, we’re bringing back a tried-and-true school tradition: brown paper grocery bag book covers.

If you have paper grocery bags at home, we are asking students to bring them to school during the first week. We’ll show students how to turn them into covers for their Social Studies textbooks.

And we’re bringing back another tradition, too: signing your name inside the cover. As these books are passed from class to class over the years, students will be able to see the names of those who learned from them before.

After all, history is learned from artifacts. Why not create a few of our own?

And yes, these textbooks will actually leave the classroom! Students will be expected to bring them home when they have reading to do. No digital-only textbooks here! (Although, yes, we have that option too.)

There’s still something to be said for opening an actual book, turning the pages, highlighting a sticky note, and maybe even discovering the name of someone who used that same book years before.

So please, save those paper grocery bags and send them our way! We’ll put them to good use protecting our new textbooks for years to come.

If you ordered a 5-12th Grade Jr. Sr. High School Yearbook last year, you can pick up your Spring Supplement portion of the book at the ACGC Jr. Sr. High School Open House from 5:00-7:30 on September 1. Please come to the Art Room to pick up your Spring Supplement. If you are unable to make it to Open House, your book will be given to you during the first week of school. We are looking forward to seeing you at Open House!

We’re less than two weeks away from the start of the school year! Our Junior and Senior High Open House is coming up next week on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Be sure to join us to tour the school, meet your teachers, and find your classrooms.

The weather was beautiful, and we had an amazing turnout at our Fall Sports Cookout! 🏈🏐🏃‍♀️🍂

Over 250 people were served burgers and chips, and it was wonderful to see so many Falcons come out to celebrate the excitement and anticipation of the 2026–27 sports seasons and school year!

A huge thank-you to everyone who helped make this evening possible—especially the ACGC Booster Club for allowing us to use the Booster Barn!

What a great start to what promises to be an amazing year!
