While students were out of the classroom on Friday, learning continued across South Western City Schools.

Staff gathered in classrooms, gymnasiums and cafeterias for a day of professional development, collaborating on district goals and participating in workshops focused on supporting student success.

This year, educators from all four SWCS high schools also came together in subject-area groups rather than by building. The format gave teachers an opportunity to exchange ideas, compare approaches to curriculum and learn from shared experiences across the district.

When staff learn and grow together, students benefit!

87,867 Books and Counting!

South Western City Schools is celebrating an exciting literacy milestone! During the first term of the 2026–2027 school year, students across the district checked out an impressive 87,867 books from their school libraries. That's 459 more books than during the same period last school year!

A special thank you to our dedicated library teams for helping put books into students' hands, encouraging a love of reading and connecting students with new opportunities to learn and explore.

Here's to keeping the pages turning!

On November 3, SWCS will have its first No-New-Millage Bond Issue on the ballot since 2018 focused on high school construction projects - all without raising the tax rate for residents (the same rate since 2009).

Issue 6 Fast Facts: Among items addressed in our public FAQ, is consideration of Renovation vs. Replacement 🏫

⚫ Third party, the Ohio Facilities Construction Comission has an evaluative threshold for when any Ohio schools are in need of a full building replacement: This is when that mark eclipses 66% of the cost of a new construction.
⚫ The OFCC has assessed Grove City High School at 82%
⚫ The OFCC has assessed Westland High School at 83%
⚫ Additionally, each building is comprised of dated HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and sewer systems that drive up ongoing maintenance costs with many components no longer servicable by the manufacture.
⚫ November 3rd's Issue 6 unlocks ~$113M in OFCC state matching funds that go to South Western City Schools to assist with these projects.

Music and school spirit filled the course during a beautiful fall evening at the annual Pinnacle March!

Earlier this week, the Grove City High School Marching Band continued this special tradition on the greens of Pinnacle Golf Club, joined by the school’s cheerleaders, color guard and JROTC.

Families, neighbors and community members gathered to enjoy the performances and celebrate Greyhound pride.
