Last night, our members were split. We had 9 members (5 instructors and 4 students) taking a RIT class in Sheakleyville, the remaining members who came for our Monday drill night worked on pump operations with the Humat valve.
What is RIT? Rapid Intervention Team. During structure fires, if anything happens to interior crews causing them to call a MAYDAY, this team is ready to go in for that firefighter. Skills include drags, carries, breathing air management. This team also prepares the structure for easier egress in the event of an emergency.
What’s a Humat valve? It’s an appliance put on the hydrant to supplement water supply.
Do either of these interest you? Stop down for an application any Monday night, no prior experience necessary.
