From the Massanutton Chapter of the NSDAR:
We are delighted to extend a warm invitation to you for a very meaningful and patriotic community celebration. Rockingham County and Harrisonburg City students were invited to participate and have spent months creating unique and heartfelt entries honoring America’s 250th birthday and expressing what makes our nation special to them. Their creativity, pride, and talent have been extraordinary.
We've called it the "We The People of the Valley" student contest. Nearly $4,000 in awards will be presented during a special ceremony on Saturday, July 4th, at Spotswood High School, with activities taking place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All entries from county schools, city schools, and homeschooled students will be on display for the public to enjoy. Please share this memorable event with your friends, coworkers, neighbors, or anyone you think might enjoy seeing students celebrating their love of our country in their own special way!
In addition to the student exhibits, several local groups will be present to share information about their work in our community. Authentic Colonial-era refreshments will also be served, adding a historical touch to this commemorative event. You most likely will get to shake hands with dignitaries like Thomas Jefferson and Martha Washington who will be in attendance!
This celebration is proudly sponsored by the Massanutton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and your presence would be greatly appreciated.
We hope you will join us in supporting these remarkable students and honoring America’s 250th birthday.
Please direct any questions you may have about this to the chapter Regent directly, as the Town of Grottoes is only sharing information that was provided and cannot answer questions. [email protected]
