USS North Dakota SSN 784 This is the Official Page of the USS NORTH DAKOTA (SSN 784). USS NORTH DAKOTA (SSN-784) is a Virginia-class submarine.

She is the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for the state of North Dakota. The contract to build her was awarded to the Electric Boat division of General Dynamics in Groton, CT on 14 August 2003. SSN-784 will be the first ship to make up the Third Block or "Flight" of Virginia-class submarine and will feature a revised bow, including some technology from Ohio class SSGNs.
