🚨 $3.5 million for the Griswold Fishing Pier! šŸŽ£

I’m proud to share that the State Bond Commission approved funding to demolish and rebuild the Fishing Pier on Shore Avenue in the City of Groton.

We had a choice between watching this public asset disappear or finding a way to rebuild it. We chose to rebuild.

You shouldn’t have to own waterfront property or a boat to have a meaningful connection to the water. This investment will restore an important place for public fishing and outdoor recreation on the lower Thames River — and give us an opportunity to think bigger about what comes next.

As the City moves into the next phase, I want residents and neighbors at the table as we explore improved accessibility, greater public access, coastal resilience, habitat enhancement and opportunities to help people learn about the Thames River and Long Island Sound ecosystem.

I’m grateful for the close coordination with Mayor Jill Rusk and Rep. Dan Gaiewski throughout this process, and deeply thankful to Governor Ned Lamont, Speaker Matt Ritter, the State Bond Commission and everyone who helped move this project forward.

This is $3.5 million coming home to Groton — and an opportunity to build something that will serve our community for generations.
