La Leche League of Nashoba Valley

La Leche League of Nashoba Valley Providing FREE mother to mother breastfeeding support. Monthly meetings feature open-ended discussions about breastfeeding and related aspects of childcare.

La Leche League (LLL) was founded to give information and encouragement, mainly through personal help, to all mothers who want to breastfed their babies. LLL believes that breastfeeding, with its many important physical and psychological advantages, is best for baby and mother and is the ideal way to initiate good parent-child relationships. Breastfeeding is most successful when a mother has infor

mation, encouragement and the opportunity to interact with other breastfeeding women. Having a support system gives her the self-confidence to respond freely to her baby’s cues and to make her own decisions about how to raise her children. Local LLL Series Meetings are led by trained La Leche League Leaders – volunteers who have nursed their own babies and have learned to help other mothers with breastfeeding questions and problems. LLL Leaders are also available by phone and/or email between meetings. For more information about breastfeeding and La Leche League, go to www.laleche.org

A member of our group shared this in an email so I thought I'd inform you all:

Hi there everyone,

I know how much I've missed the Nashoba Valley LLL meetings and I'm sure many of you have too! I wanted to share that there is a new LLL group starting meetings next month; LLL of Gardner-Leominster.

The group's first meeting will be Tuesday, March 3rd at 10am in Westminster (at the public library) if anyone is interested in attending! It would be great to see some familiar faces :)

Here is a link to their website (http://www.lllmarivt.org/gardner-leominster/) and you can also find them on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/lalecheleagueofgardnerleominster.)

We are planning to begin monthly breastfeeding support meetings in the spring. If you have breastfeeding questions or concerns please call the Leader listed below.

Hi, I just wanted to note that our group's meetings have stopped for now, since one Leader moved away, another has ongoing health issues, and I live down in Marlboro now and can't keep the meetings going by myself. Please refer to LLL's website to find another group near you! Sorry for the inconvenience. Daryl http://www.llli.org/webus.html

Any Leader listed on a Group Web page of a state within the US will have a directory of Leaders in her state, so she will be able to help you find a local Group or Leader.

Free mother-to-mother breastfeeding support and information. Pregnant mothers are encouraged to attend and nurslings are always welcome.

Dear Mothers,

We hope that this new time isn't too inconvenient, but we felt that the only way that we could support our families and continue our La Leche League work was to switch to a night meeting. We are sorry if this is difficult for stay at home moms. Please remember that we are available by phone or email if you have any concerns and aren't able to make our meetings.

WarmLLLy,
Melissa and Ruthann

Have you been helped by La Leche League? Did you find information, compassion and understanding by reaching out to our group? Would you like to support La Leche League so that future moms can receive the same support, friendship and community? Did you always want to become a member, but never found the time?

Please consider making a donation, as part of World Breastfeeding Week, to our group. All donations are tax deductible and help support the mission of La Leche League. We would like to get a big sign to make it easier to find our location and update our library. We also use the money for conferences and dues so that we are up to date on the most current breastfeeding information.

It couldn't be easier to donate. Follow this link, select our group, and make a donation. A yearly membership donation is $40.

This comes up in meetings all the time.

The not-often-discussed issue of Vitamin D deficiency in nursing mothers is discussed by an expert, and how it can affect the infants in their care. An "adequate" intake for nursing mothers is not the 400 IU/d the IOM recommends, but is instead in the range of 5,000-6,000 IU/d, taken daily. If they…
