It is with great sadness that we have to share the passing of Lt. Tom Condzella. Tom started his law enforcement career at Cornell Police Department and Groton Police Department, respectively, before moving on to Ithaca where he eventually became Lieutenant and PBA President. His unexpected passing hits close to home for many of us.

Our hearts and condolences go to his wife and sons, his extended family, many friends and colleagues of the Ithaca Police Department.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lieutenant Thomas Condzella, who died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Lieutenant Condzella joined the Ithaca Police Department in 2015 as a Patrol Officer and was later promoted to Sergeant and then Lieutenant.

During his tenure with our department, Tom served on the Specialized Response Team, the Crash Reconstruction Team, the Recruitment Team, and as President of the Ithaca Police Benevolent Association.

Tom is survived by a wife and two young sons.

We are grateful for his dedicated service to the city of Ithaca and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
