The Main Street trash receptacles in the Village of Groton have been removed due to an increase of misuse. Individuals have been putting their household trash and items that are creating undesirable odors and attracting insects & cockroaches, making surrounding areas unhealthy. Until we can find a way to eliminate this from happening, the trash receptacles will not be returned to Main St.

Due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in our surrounding areas and to ensure the safety of our staff and residents. The Village offices and services will be operating on a limited basis and the office will be closed to the public. To contact us please phone, mail or e-mail with any questions or comments. Appointments can be made by phone for services that cannot be done remotely.

Payments can be made at First National Bank of Groton, online and the drop box by the door. We will also be accepting credit card payments over the phone for at least the next 30 days to minimize contact.

LOOKING TO HELP REPRESENT YOUR VILLAGE?

The Village of Groton has several boards that provide the opportunity for you to participate in your Village’s future. The citizens working on these boards participate in making decisions to give the Village Board of Trustees advice.

We currently have vacancies on the ZBA.

Zoning Board of Appeals – the zoning board of appeals is empowered to hear and decide appeals from any person aggrieved by an administrative decision. The role of the ZBA is to determine whether the decision was authorized or supported by the zoning ordinance.

Minimum qualifications:
a) Citizen of the United States.
b) At least 18 years of age.
c) Resident of the Village of Groton for at least 30 days.
