Curious about AI but not sure where to begin? Join Oakland University Professor Dr. Dan Arnold for a two-part beginner course on October 27 and 29. You’ll learn more about what AI is, explore some of today’s most common tools and get hands-on practice using them.

What does a day at The Helm Wilson Day Center look like?

It might include conversation over a meal, movement and wellness activities, a creative project, music, games, cognitive activities or simply enjoying time with others.

While the activities may change, the goal remains the same: create meaningful opportunities for participants experiencing memory loss or cognitive decline to stay engaged, connected and active during the day.

And while participants are spending their day with us, caregivers have time for the other parts of life that need their attention.

Curious about AI but not quite sure where to begin?

Join Oakland University Professor Dr. Dan Arnold for How to Jumpstart Your AI Skills, a two-part beginner course designed to make artificial intelligence easier to understand and use.

Session 1: AI – The Good, The Bad and The Unknown
Learn what AI is, how it is changing everyday life and explore popular AI tools and possibilities.

Session 2: Tool Time: Exploring Common AI Tools
Get hands-on practice with real AI platforms and build confidence using AI for productivity, creativity and daily life.

Join us for Morning Mingle & Learn: Ready, Set, Vote!, presented by the League of Women Voters of Grosse Pointe.

The program will cover where to find impartial information about candidates and issues, along with information about voting options, including early voting, voting by mail and Election Day voting. There will also be time for audience questions.

Could your week use a little more calm? Join us Thursday, October 22, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. for Yin Restorative Yoga. Move safely through poses designed to increase flexibility and mobility while fostering a sense of peace, ease and deep relaxation. Bring a yoga mat and give yourself an hour to slow down and recharge.

Join a DIA docent at The Helm for DIA Behind the Scenes: In Our Own Voice: African American Art.

The presentation will explore the creative contributions of African Americans from the 19th century through the present day and examine themes including race, gender, politics and culture.

Local history is calling! 🏛️

Join us for a visit to the Grosse Pointe Historical Society’s History Center and its newest exhibition, Robert O. Derrick: Architect of Dreams.

Enjoy light refreshments, talk local history with the Collections Manager and take an optional behind-the-scenes tour of the archives.

We’ll head to Mack Avenue Grille for lunch after the tour.

💲 $30 per person, including roundtrip transportation and museum tour

🚗 A little refresher can go a long way.

The AARP Smart Driver Course is coming to The Helm for two days of practical information designed to help drivers stay confident and informed behind the wheel.

Topics include the effects of medication on driving, navigating left turns and roundabouts, new vehicle technology, reducing distractions, maintaining a safe following distance and more.

💲 $20 AARP members | $25 non-members
