Today we took delivery of our brand new 103 ft. AerialCat. The call sign for this truck will be Ladder 1, which will be replacing our current 1996 model year 75 ft. ladder truck. Our current ladder truck has served the residents of Grosse Ile for 30 years, responding to several thousand calls for service. Whether it was a wire or tree down, a Carbon Monoxide emergency, a structure fire or yes even a cat in a tree, Ladder 1 was there.
This new apparatus will proudly serve and protect life and property for the next 35 years. Thank you to the residents of Grosse Ile for the voter-approved Grosse Ile Fire Department Equipment Millage. It has been a busy week at the Grosse Township Fire Department. We took delivery of our new ambulance. Only with the hard work out of our dedicated members can we get everything done in such a short amount of time. Thank you to the community for supporting the fire department's Capital replacement plan. This 2026 model replaces our 2009 Model that has responded to thousands of calls over its 17 years with us.Only with the funds from our voter approved equipment millage is it possible to have new equipment like this to serve for many more years. Thank you from all of your Grosse Ile Township Fire Department members.

After months of rigorous training, dedication, and perseverance, these individuals have earned the honor of serving our community. From fire suppression skills to teamwork and leadership, they are prepared to answer the call—day or night.

Grosse Ile Township Fire Department will be having a training Saturday April 4 at the Grosse Ile Airport. During this time, you may see some smoke billowing, water spraying, lights blinking and hear sirens wee-wooing. Training is expected to be throughout the morning and afternoon.

Even after being away from the families for almost 8 hours yesterday for wind related emergencies Grosse Ile FireFighters spent a full day today Training. Grosse Ile Fire Department hosted a Flashover Training run by Oakland Community College. This Training enables FireFighters to experience the extreme conditions inside a fire while learning the warning signs of a Flashover.
