Did you order your Flag for next year? Do you know someone who would appreciate a Flag for Christmas?
The Kiwanis Club of Grosse Ile would like to say Thank You to all the residents who subscribed to our Flag Program and to our volunteers who help keep this program alive.
Another wonderful Flag season has ended, and boy did we learn a lot. Leaving the flags out for 6 months did a number on them. We replaced more flags this year than ever before and, as we saw from the condition of the flags when we took them down, we needed to replace a lot more. Also, with the flags flying constantly in their state of disrepair, they lost the significance of the holidays they were meant to be displayed for.
As such, we are adjusting course. Next year the Flags will fly for 3 distinct displays, which covers seven patriotic holidays: Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Patriot’s Day, and Veteran’s Day (weather permitting)
They will go up before Armed Forces Day on 5/16 and stay up through the Fourth of July. They will go up again before Labor Day (9/4) and fly through Patriots Day (9/11). Then go up for a final display for Veterans Day in November. The cost of a subscription is decreasing from $80 to $65 for the year.
Also, don’t forget that buying the subscription service for a friend or family member makes a great present. You can renew and buy your subscription by going to our website Flag Program (grosseilekiwanis.com) or paying by check making you check out to Kiwanis Club of Grosse Ile and mailing it to PO Box 31, Grosse Ile, MI 48138. Please mark the purpose as “2026 Flag Subscription” on the check.
Once again, we want to thank you for supporting the Grosse Ile Kiwanis through the years and helping our club in its efforts to give back to our community. We look forward to your subscription renewal for the 2026 Flag season so we can continue to help the children.
Sincerely,
Kelly Fusinski

PS: We will have “Flag Repair Days” before the 2026 Armed Forces Day and then, one in between the Fourth of July and Labor Day, and another before Veteran's Day.
We are always looking for more volunteers to assist with putting up and taking down the flags and also at the "Flag Repair Days". More information will come out on specific dates of the events next year.
Dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.
