PUPDATE!!!!! MAGGIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!
Thank you!!! ā™„ļøšŸ•

Meet Maggie!!

Maggie is a gentle, loving dog who is ready to start a new chapter. Maggie is approximately 6 years old and came into the shelter under heartbreaking circumstances after her owner passed away. Despite the sudden change in her world, Maggie has remained sweet‑natured, calm, and hopeful.

Maggie still has many wonderful years ahead of her and is eager to share them with a new family.

Let’s work together to get Maggie out of the shelter and into a forever home where she can feel safe and cherished again.

If you’re interested in adopting Maggie or would like more information, please reach out to Officer Dobson.

Not every cat outside needs to be ā€œrescuedā€, but every cat deserves the right kind of help 🐾

Community cats (feral cats) are unsocialized to humans and have often lived their entire lives outdoors. Because of this, bringing them inside or trying to force socialization isn’t always kind- it can actually be extremely stressful for them.

The best way to help is through TNR (trap, neuter, return).

✨ Spay/neuter
✨ Rabies vaccination
✨ Medical care if needed
✨ Return to their outdoor home

This approach:
• Prevents endless litters
• Reduces suffering
• Improves their quality of life
• Stabilizes the population over time

And here’s the reality- 90–95% of adult feral cats will never become social pets. That doesn’t mean they’re less deserving… it just means they need a different kind of care.

Rescue doesn’t always mean bringing them inside.
Sometimes it means meeting them where they are and respecting what they are.

Thank you for helping us advocate, educate, and care for ALL cats šŸ¤šŸ¾

Protect your pets during this weekends extreme weather event. It’s the Law and the Right Thing to Do!!

Community Reminder: As temperatures drop please take action to protect your pets from the cold. Animals are vulnerable to freezing temperatures just like humans, and Texas law makes it illegal to leave pets outside in extreme weather without proper shelter, food, and water. (If you are cold, they are cold)

What the Law Says
- Fail to provide adequate shelter, food, or water.
- Leave pets outside in freezing conditions without protection. (Inclement weather)
- Confine or restrain animals in a cruel manner.

Violations can result in fines, criminal charges, and even jail time under HSC 821.101 and PC 42.092.

Cold Weather Tips for Pet Owners
- Bring pets indoors whenever possible.
- If pets must stay outside, provide a dry, insulated shelter that protects from wind, rain, and snow.
- Ensure access to unfrozen water and nutritious food.
- Check paws for signs of frostbite or injury after time outdoors.

Acclimation Takes Time
Pets don’t adjust to cold weather overnight. It can take several days to weeks for animals to adapt to temperature changes. Sudden exposure to freezing conditions can be dangerous—even for breeds with thicker coats. (Read this part again)

See Something? Say Something!
If you see a pet left outside in unsafe conditions, report it to Animal Control Officer Dobson. Your call could save a life.
