Due to the current condition with COVID-19 and the many unknowns that come with it right now, we have decided it is best to postpone our Johnston Grimes Firefighters Association Pancake Breakfast which was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd. We will reschedule it for a future date (either this summer or fall) however, we are waiting to determine that date to see where things are at with COVID-19 in the coming weeks. Continue to watch for future announcements regarding the new date. Thank you for your understanding and your continued support! Stay healthy!

Today we were proud to be able to provide breakfast and snacks to the Polk County Emergency Operations Center. We are thankful for the hard work and dedication these folks are putting into the planning and coordination of response to our County's COVID19 response.

As of now our pancake breakfast is still on for Saturday, May 2nd however, we are continuing to monitor the situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We will make a final decision in the coming weeks based on guidance from the public health, state and the city with where the situation is at whether it will remain on May 2nd or be postponed for another date. The health of our communities are important to us! We will update our page and calendar invite as we have information.

There will be many activities for your kids to do at our pancake breakfast on Saturday, May 2nd! 🍮 Mark your calendar now to join us between 7am-11am at Station 37 (200 S. James, Grimes)! Below are some of the planned activities for the kids as of now and more may be added!

🚁LifeFlight landing and tours (will land at approximately 8:00am (weather and call volume dependent)
💦Hose spray
🚒Truck tours
👨‍🚒Fire Safety Public Education
🚨Safety Trailer activities
👩‍🚒Gear try on and picture opportunities
🚓Law Enforcement vehicle tours/public education

Dale and MaryBeth Day applied for a grant through the America's Farmers and the Bayer Fund that allows them to give back to a non-profit organization. The Days were chosen for one of the 2019 recipients and they chose to donate the money to our association; we appreciate their support! They were able to come and present the check to our association recently. We enjoyed meeting them!

Dan's Locker has brought and grilled the sausage at our pancake breakfast for the past few years! Dan and his family all volunteer to come and help grill and serve the sausage! This has added a great touch to our pancake breakfast! He has brought different types and flavors and we have all enjoyed this addition to our pancake breakfast! Dan's sons are both on the Johnston Grimes Metropolitan Fire Department and part of our association.
