Last night was our annual appreciation dinner with the Ambulance and Fire department, Chenoa police department, and Flanagan-Graymont Fire Department . We had a delicious meal provided by Trail Ends and many delicious desserts furnished by many people in the community that wanted to donate them. Common Grounds Cafe & Pie Shop also donated many pies for this event. After the meal we played bingo and trivia. The members of the Fire and Ambulance also wanted to recognize Wava Kaupp for the many things she has done for us over the years since 1990. We can't say thank you enough for what all of our first responders do throughout the year to supply coverage for the towns of Gridley and Flanagan and the surrounding communities. They sacrifice a lot of their time for training and shifts to make this happen. This is one night out of the year we all come together and enjoy a night of relaxation and have some fun. Thank you to our Fire Protection District Trustees for the time you put in and help us make the departments what they are today. Appreciate what everyone does throughout the year. Let's have a safe 2026.

🚨 Public Notice: Training Exercise at the El Paso-Gridley High School this Friday, October 10th 🚨

Dear Community,

On Friday morning, area-wide police, fire and EMS will be conducting a training exercise at EPGHS. That morning you will see a large presence of police, emergency vehicles and first respnders on site as part of our training exercise. EPG school faculty will also be participating.

What to expect:
✔️ We will simulate emergency scenarios to help our teams be better prepared
✔️ There is no real emergency — it is a planned exercise
✔️Students and the general public will be prohibited from entering the school during the exercise.
✔️The immediate area surrounding the high school and Centennial building will be restricted from entering.
✔️ The streets surrounding the school will be open to traffic, but if possible, please avoid the area.

We appreciate your understanding and support. These training exercises help ensure we’re ready to serve our community better in real situations.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our open house today. It was nice sharing with everyone the capabilities of what our equipment does and the new ambulance. Today is the day to come join us from 2 to 4 and enjoy talking to our members of our squad about our new equipment and the new ambulance. See you then!!

Gridley Emergency Medical Service has been serving Gridley and surrounding communities for 45 years this year. On July 24th we took delivery of our new ambulance 3N28 and put it into service on August 1st. On September 14th please join us for an open house from 2 to 4 at our station to see our new equipment. Enjoy some refreshments while visiting with our members of the squad. We are truly blessed with the support our community has given us over the years.

The American Red Cross is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, September 11th at the Gridley Community Center from 12:30-5:30pm. The following is a message that we received that they have asked us to share with you:

“Thank you, if you have responded to the blood drive on Thursday, September 11th at the Gridley Community Center from 12:30-5:30pm. We are still in need of at least 20 MORE blood donors to sign up to give blood to achieve our collection target and have the needed blood and blood products for hospital patients in need! Will you help?? Remember, one unit of blood can help up to 3 hospital patients. The Red Cross is currently experiencing a CRITICAL NEED of type O blood. Although we need all blood types, we must collect more type O blood before there is an emergency shortage! Please make your appointment today and save lives! Below is the direct link to sign up. Walk-ins are also welcome! As a thank you all presenting donors will receive an iconic Red Cross x PEANUTS design, while supplies last. Thanks for your support of the blood program.”
