A summer burn ban goes into effect Monday, June 15, for Gresham, Troutdale, Wood Village, Fairview and Multnomah County Fire District 10 due to hot, dry weather conditions and increased fire danger across the region.

The announcement by the Multnomah County Fire Defense Board includes bans on:
✅ Backyard burning
✅ Recreational campfires and fire pits
✅ Agricultural burning, including agricultural waste, field burning, and any previously permitted open burning such as land clearing, slash, stump, or debris burning.

The ban will remain in effect throughout the summer until the fall weather allows a return to permitted open burning. To check detailed restrictions or permit requirements for Gresham, Troutdale, Wood Village, Fairview and Fire District 10, contact the Burn Information Line at 503-618-3083.

Stay cool this weekend, Gresham!

🌡Higher temps are in the forecast this weekend and into next week. A little preparation goes a long way.

Make a plan to:
✅ Stay cool and hydrated.
✅ Open windows only when it’s cooler outside.
✅ Never leave pets or children in hot cars.
✅ Check on others: family, friends and neighbors — especially those who might be vulnerable to the heat: multco.us/hot

When gardening or taking care of your lawn, keep our waterways in mind.
Irresponsible fertilizer use can contribute to harmful algal blooms (HABs).

Excess fertilizer can wash into waterways, where nutrients fuel algae growth. HABs reduce oxygen in the water, and can make water unsafe for swimming and fishing.
