The Marching Gorillas had an early 5:00 a.m. departure on Saturday as they traveled to Vermillion to march in the “D” Days Parade.

The band had a tremendous day, earning first place in their class and beating Vermillion High School in the marching competition held during the parade. Once again, our students marched with pride and enthusiasm, wowing parade attendees throughout the route.

It was also great to see so many Gregory alumni along the parade route. Your support and encouragement mean so much to our students!

A special thank-you goes out to all of the parents and families who supported the band, as well as those who donated food, drinks, and snacks. Your generosity was greatly appreciated and helped make the day a wonderful success.

We are incredibly proud of the Marching Gorillas and all of their hard work, dedication, and school spirit. What a tremendous day!

Gorilla Gathering message for the week:

Last week was hard. Homecoming is hard for parents, students, coaches, teachers, etc. There's early mornings, late nights, costumes, float building, games, and activities. And all of that happens while school is still happening. And school is hard by itself!

Sometimes, we wait for things to get easier. Next week will be easier. Next semester, things will get easier. The next math class will get easier. And the list goes on and on.

But life doesn't get easier. It never gets easier. Kara Lawson is the head coach of the Duke Women's Basketball team. She gave a speech recently to her team about waiting for things to get easier. And they don't!

We get better at handling hard things!

Coach Lawson says "Handle 'Hard' better."

Sports don't just become easy. We get better at them.
Math doesn't just get easy. We get better at doing hard math.
Being busy doesn't get easy. We get better at handling a hard schedule.

So the next time you catch yourself waiting for things to "get easier," remember that you just have to handle "hard" better. And that only happens if we do hard things. So push yourself. Do the hard things. Work at them. Get better. Learn to handle hard better!
