Now that all the absentee votes have been counted, the results in Greenwood’s mayoral election are clear, and Kenderick Cox will be our new mayor. I have spoken with Mr. Cox to congratulate him on his victory and to offer my full support as he prepares to become the next mayor of Greenwood.
I want to thank the voters of Greenwood for the honor of serving as your mayor for the past 16 years. It has truly been the privilege of a lifetime. I have loved this city since I was a little girl, and I will continue to love it every day for the rest of my life.
This is a moment to look back with pride, and to look ahead with hope.
Together, over four terms, we’ve made incredible progress. We’ve built new recreational amenities, improved neighborhoods, revitalized our downtown, and strengthened public safety. We’ve invested in infrastructure, secured millions in grants, modernized city buildings, and kept Greenwood financially strong. We’ve faced challenges head-on and we have always found a way forward…together.
I’m proud of what we accomplished. And I’m even prouder of the spirit in which we did it—with steady hands, open doors, and a commitment to treating everyone with fairness and respect.
But this is not just about what has come before. It’s about what comes next.
Now is the time for Greenwood to unite behind its next mayor. I stand ready to assist Mr. Cox in ensuring a smooth and seamless transition so that the work of the city continues without interruption. Because at the end of the day, this has never been about any one person. It’s about Greenwood and what we can achieve when we work together.
To my incredible campaign team, our volunteers, supporters, and every resident who has ever walked through my office door to share a concern or an idea—thank you. You have blessed me with your trust, your encouragement, and your partnership. I will always be grateful for your faith in me.
Greenwood is a special place. And while this chapter of my public service is coming to a close, I remain filled with hope for our future. We have what it takes to keep moving forward. We are resilient, we are proud, and we are full of potential.
I ask everyone to give Mayor-Elect Cox your support and your prayers. Leading a city is hard work, and no one does it alone. If we work together with grace and goodwill, I believe Greenwood’s best days are still ahead.
Thank you again for the opportunity to serve you. I will always be cheering for this city we all love. May God bless you, and may God bless the City of Greenwood.
With gratitude,
Carolyn McAdams
