Looking to share a fun mystery read with your little ones? Bonnie recommends The Mystery of the Blue Train.

"For those of you who love a good Agatha Christie novel, we now have two classic retellings in our picture book section of the Kid's Department. The titles are The Mystery of the Blue Train and The Mysterious Affair At Styles. The retelling of each mystery is told in engaging rhyme with just the right number of words for a picture book. Included are some fun activities to help the reader interact with clues and solve the mystery. Appropriate for ages four and up."

Debbie's GPL Story

Debbie has been volunteering at GPL for the past three years, and has helped at multiple programs, including our Indianapolis Motor Speedway STEM event this summer.

"I love coming here. GPL is just fun! I’m always impressed when patrons come in and they all have their people that they know at the library. When you first come in the door, you’re always greeted, and the staff in the Kids Department and upstairs are so friendly. They really stop to take the time to explain things and take the time to bond with people and go the extra mile."

"It’s such a fun atmosphere, and there’s such a nice feeling of community. If you haven’t been to GPL you should really come and try it out because there’s just so much here. I was very surprised when I first came here and saw all of the kits they have, and not just for kids, but for adults as well. There are so many programs and just so much to do! There’s going to be something for every interest."

"I also love all of the makerspace stuff! I’m not crafty myself, but I love to buy the earrings and bookmarks up there. I always put the Foundation Gifts on my shopping list for all my bookloving people."

Looking for a new read? Linda recommends Sleepless by Gordon Korman.

"What would you do if you didn’t need to sleep? As an avowed night owl, the tagline from superstar kids’ author Gordon Korman’s newest book, Sleepless, immediately grabbed my attention. Five seemingly unrelated kids—Mickey, Skye, Levi, Cyrus, and Thea—suddenly discover they can stay awake all night without ever feeling tired. At first, the extra hours seem like the ultimate superpower, giving them time to work out, excel in school, build their social media presence, practice for the school play, and work on inventions—but when they discover they aren’t the only ones who are sleepless, things get even more mysterious. Soon, the five are working together to figure out why this is happening to them and whether having all that extra time is really the gift they thought it was."
