On May 13, 2026, Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives conducted a joint operation with Agents from the State Law Enforcement Division, resulting in the arrest of Daveon Antonio Butler and Darrell Shornrecon Phillips, and the seizure of more than 5 pounds of fentanyl, 6 pounds of methamphetamine, 2 electric pill presses, 5 fi****ms, and other drugs.
This operation marked the culmination of a months long investigation by GCSO Narcotics Detectives and SLED Agents.
On May 13, 2026, search warrants were executed at 4 locations and Butler and Phillips were taken into custody, after both tried to evade capture by fleeing in vehicles. In both incidents, law enforcement used pinning maneuvers to avoid or end vehicle pursuits. The apprehension of Phillips was accomplished by the assistance of GCSO K9 Maverick.
As a result of this operation, the defendants are facing the following charges:
Daveon Butler:
-Trafficking Fentanyl, more than 28 grams
-Trafficking Methamphetamine, 10-28 grams
-Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
-Possession with Intent to Distribute Ma*****na
-Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime
Darrell Phillips:
-Trafficking Fentanyl, more than 28 grams x2
-Trafficking Methamphetamine, more than 400 grams
-Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime
-Failure to Stop for Blue Light
-Resisting Arrest
At the time of his arrest, Butler was out on 2 separate circuit court bonds for drug and fi****ms charges, as well as resisting arrest.
