Join the Teen Writers Group on Tuesday, June 9, from 4:00–5:00 PM in the Teen Center. Whether you’re writing fantasy adventures, fanfic, poetry, or your very first novel, this is a welcoming space to create, share ideas, and grow as a writer.

Teens ages 13–18 can:
📖 Share works-in-progress
📝 Try writing prompts and challenges
💡 Learn about plotting, characters, and worldbuilding
🤝 Connect with other creative teens

🥒 Learn the art of pickling at the library!

Join us for Food Preservation: Pickling on Friday, June 12, from 12:00–1:00 PM in the American Veterans Auditorium.

William Kirby, Food Systems and Safety Agent with the Clemson Cooperative Extension, will discuss different methods of pickling foods, including the pros and cons of each approach. The program will also feature demonstrations of a couple of local favorite pickling methods.

🦖🎨 Creativity Lab: Pasta Paleontology is coming to the library!

Kids ages 6–9 are invited to explore creativity and science through a fun hands-on activity in our Children’s Story Room on Tuesday, June 9, from 3:30–4:30 PM.

This month, children will design their own dinosaur masterpiece using pasta shapes to complete a dinosaur template! Creativity Lab programs are filled with crafts, experiments, and activities that spark imagination and curiosity.

Calling all manga fans ages 13–18! Join us in the Teen Center on Thursday, June 18 from 4:00–5:00 PM for the launch of our new Manga Book Club!

Dive into the world of manga with fellow teens who love stories, art, and Japanese pop culture. Whether you’re into action-packed adventures, fantasy epics, romance, or slice-of-life stories, this club is the perfect place to discover new series, share favorites, and connect with other fans.

✨ June Selection:
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Volumes 1–2 by Koyoharu Gotouge

Follow Tanjiro Kamado’s unforgettable journey as he fights demons and searches for a way to save his sister Nezuko after tragedy strikes his family. These opening volumes are packed with emotional storytelling, thrilling action, and unforgettable characters.

Children and families will enjoy an exciting educational show featuring animatronics, puppetry, and fascinating dinosaur facts. Meet lifelike dinosaurs, learn about these incredible prehistoric creatures, and start your summer with learning, laughter, and plenty of prehistoric fun!

🦖☕ Little Readers Storytime: Dinosaur Tea Party ☕🦖

Join us for a roaring good time at the library on Tuesday, June 9 from 10:30–11:30 AM in the Children’s Story Room!

We’ll be reading the delightful picture book Tea Rex by Molly Idle — a whimsical story about what happens when a very proper tea party meets a very large (and very hungry!) dinosaur guest!

After storytime, children can enjoy:
🫖 A dinosaur-themed tea party
🎨 Fun crafts
🦕 Prehistoric party games

Dress-up clothes and dino costumes are highly encouraged!

📚 Recommended for ages 3–7 and their families

🔎 Registration is NOW OPEN for our summer Murder at the Movie Theater event! 🔎

Come play detective and crack a gripping cold case murder mystery. In the small port town on Fidalgo Island, movie theater owner Chris Hodgson was found dead in his office with multiple lacerations to the chest. Can you uncover the clues, solve the mystery, and bring the criminal to justice?

• Thursday, June 11 | 2–4 PM

This event will also return again in July!
