We’re taking the Soup Kitchen’s beloved Empty Bowls tradition and reimagining it into an elevated evening centered around food, community, creativity, and purpose.

Beyond the Bowl is more than a fundraiser—it’s a culinary experience designed to bring our community together while supporting the Food Bank of the Lakelands’ Soup Kitchen.

ATTN SNAP RECIPIENTS: The South Carolina Department of Social Services (SCDSS) has received a notice from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) requesting that the Healthy Food SC demonstration project for households receiving SNAP benefits in South Carolina, which SCDSS was prepared to begin on August 31, 2026, be postponed with a new implementation date of November 1, 2026. SNAP works because of a strong federal-state partnership. Forcing states to shoulder billions in new costs threatens access to food assistance and creates uncertainty for families and communities.
What will suffer if states have to absorb new SNAP costs?
📚 K-12 education?
🏥 Health care?
🚒 Public safety?
Congress shouldn't force states into impossible budget choices. Protect SNAP.
