Today, as part of our remembrance of the lives lost 25 years ago on Sept. 11th, members of the Greenwood City Fire Department participated in the Greenville Stair Climb. We are very proud of these firefighters and we will continue to honor the memory of the lives lost on Sept 11th, 2001.

🔴 PROBATIONARY CHECKOFF COMPLETE 🔴

Join us in congratulating Firefighter Bryson Rowe on successfully completing his six-month probationary period!

A Greenwood native, Bryson began his fire service career volunteering with Northwest Fire Department in 2024. Outside of the fire department, he works on the farm at Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries and enjoys spending time with his family, hunting and fishing. Bryson is now on C-Shift and is currently assigned to Engine 1.

Since joining the Greenwood City Fire Department in February, Bryson has demonstrated tremendous determination to reach this goal. Bryson finished off his probationary period with a grueling final checkoff, putting his training, skills, and physical abilities to the test. We are proud to officially welcome him through this important milestone in his career.

Please join us in congratulating Hunter Waller on earning his Firefighter / Apparatus Operator designation!

FF Waller has been with the Greenwood City Fire Department since 2024 and is assigned to C-Shift. Over the past year, Hunter has put in many hours of training and studying. Recently, Hunter successfully completed the Apparatus Operator test that earned him this designation.

Congratulations, FAO Waller, on this well-deserved accomplishment!

We are pleased to congratulate Firefighter Alex Gonzalez on earning his designation as a Fire Specialist!

Firefighter Gonzalez joined the Greenwood City Fire Department in 2023 and is currently assigned to C-Shift.

As a Fire Specialist, Gonzalez is now qualified to assume the responsibilities of an officer when needed, providing additional leadership to his shift and ensuring the continued effectiveness and readiness of his crew.

Please allow us to be a little vulnerable and candid with you in this post.

On April 23rd the Greenwood Fire Department hosted its annual awards and swearing in ceremony. It was a fantastic night! Micah Rains Captain with the City of Greenville Fire provided a key note reminding our personnel of their duty to the job, the department, each other and our community.

Many of our members were honored and sworn in. Before we made a post honoring our members the unthinkable happened. Greenwood City Police Officer DJ Keller was killed in the line of duty. Many of the same members honored responded to this incident. Following DJ’s death, it didn’t seem like the time or place to make this post. We needed time to process and to grieve. We humbly ask that you would allow us to celebrate these well deserving members now.

- For actions taken off duty as a member of Northwest Volunteer Fire Department where despite high heat and zero visibility Firefighter Amiri entered the structure and assisted with the removal of a victim.

The City of Greenwood Fire Department would like to congratulate Fire Marshal Tim Warner on his retirement after 28 years of dedicated service. Fire Marshal Warner started his career in 1998 as a firefighter and worked his way through the ranks of driver/operator, Lieutenant, Captain and finally Fire Marshal. Fire Marshal Warner was part of several major fires, technical rescues and statewide deployment during his storied career. Fire Marshal Warner was joined by his family, friends, retirees and current employees who celebrated his retirement. Please help us celebrate and thank him for his years of service to the City of Greenwood!
