Greenwood, S.C. – Greenwood County and Greenwood, South Carolina City Government are excited to introduce a new online building permitting portal through Citizenserve, going live on Monday, August 18, 2025. This new platform allows residents and contractors to request, track, and pay for permits at any time, from anywhere. The system is designed to streamline the permitting process and make it more accessible and efficient for everyone.
With the new portal, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building, land disturbance, and manufactured home permits can all be submitted and paid for online. The platform also allows users to submit code enforcement complaints directly from their computer or mobile device.
"This launch is a major step forward in modernizing how we serve the people of Greenwood," said Travis Lathren, City/County Building Official. "Whether you are a homeowner, contractor, or business owner, Citizenserve gives you the tools to handle permitting tasks at your convenience, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week."
Planning and engineering portals are still in development. They will soon be integrated into the Citizenserve system to provide even more comprehensive online access.
For those who prefer to do business in person, printable forms are still available on our websites and can be picked up at the Building and Planning Department offices, currently located in the Airport Annex (1025 Deadfall Rd E, Greenwood, SC 29649).
By embracing digital tools like Citizenserve, Greenwood County and the City of Greenwood are making it easier for residents to submit applications, track progress, and pay for permits without being limited by office hours.
Residents can access the online portal through the permit page of the Greenwood County website at https://bit.ly/45v3SQf by selecting "Submit Online" under the appropriate permit type.
