Another great image from the past:

Dick Eddy’s home. Located on what was known as “Furnace Hill”, aka — Eddy Street (County Route 74).

This image was photographed by L. F. Hurd and dates between 1870 - 1879.

A great shot of Main Street, dating between 1957 - early 1970.

Notice Pratt’s clothing store in its original location, the former Dwyer’s clothing store.

Bob Pratt purchased the building in 1957, remaining in that location until May 1970. He then moved to the location a majority of us remember — further up Main Street across from Trustco Bank, the Greenwich Hardware Building.

Bob and Patricia Pratt closed the doors in late 1990. However, Pratt’s Clothing will forever be a part of our memories.

Do you have a memory about the mill in Victory?

Help Us Preserve the History of the Victory Mill Fire

The fire at the historic Victory mill marks a major milestone in our community’s story—a moment of loss, resilience, and remembrance that deserves to be documented for future generations.

As Historian to the Town of Saratoga, I’m asking for your help in capturing this chapter of our shared history.

If you have photos or videos of the fire, please consider sharing them for the Town Archives. These materials will be preserved by the Historian’s Office and may be used to help tell the story of the mill and its lasting impact on our community. By submitting, you are giving permission for the Town of Saratoga to use these materials for historical purposes.

You can also contribute by answering one or both of these questions:

What do you remember most vividly about daily life at the mill—whether working there yourself or knowing someone who did?
When you watched the mill burn, what went through your mind—and what did that moment mean to you or the community?
This is a chance to make sure that the voices, memories, and emotions of this moment are not lost. Your stories and images are part of our history.

📩 Please send all submissions by email to: [email protected]

Thank you for helping us preserve the legacy of the Victory mill—for those who remember it, and for those who will someday want to understand it.

With gratitude,
Sean Kelleher
