Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association

Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association We are an organization of professional Police Officers dedicated to community service. His family faced seemingly expensive medical expenses.

During the summer of 1958, the Officers of The Greenwich Police Department were faced with a serious and perplexing problem. One of their brother Officers had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and was confined to Greenwich Hospital. The Greenwich Police Officers organized benefit dinners and even made personal donations to the family but it was simply not enough. The idea was born to form a,

“club’, its purpose to provide financial assistance to Officers in need. That club became The Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association, its name conceived from the, “badge of honor”, each of them wore.

Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association President, Lieutenant Louis Pannone and Police Officer Thomas Huestis, present to YWCA’s Domestic Abuse Services Crisis Counselor Emily Orenstein a new child car seat for one of her clients.

Emily reached out to the Silver Shield Association because her client was desperate and couldn't afford a safe car seat for her six-month old baby.

This is just one of many examples of the Shield Shield “giving back” to the community.

All year long we assist many organizations in need of our help and resources, and together, we do our best to support our amazing town and residents.

The Silver Shield Association is the union for all 146 Greenwich Police Officers, Detectives, Technicians, Sergeants, and Lieutenants.

Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association is pleased to Announce that SSA Member Thomas Huestis was sworn into the Greenwich Rotary as a Active Member today

Rotary is a service club. Its product is serving. Rotarians provide community service to both local and international communities. This is perhaps the best reason for becoming a Rotarian: the chance to do something for somebody else and to sense the self-fulfillment that comes in the process and return of that satisfaction to one's own life. It is richly rewarding, “Service Above Self”

SSA President Lt. Pannone’s goal is to collaboratively work with the Rotary Club of Greenwich and using our combined resources to give back and support our wonderful community even more so In these uncertain times

Congrats Tom for always being involved in the Greenwich Community!
