Greenwich Library (Main Library only) will be closed on Wednesday, May 27 to a maintenance issue. We will keep you updated on our reopening status.

The Byram Shubert and Cos Cob branches will have normal hours on Wednesday, May 27.

Visit our calendar to check the status of any programs. All items due on Wednesday are extended until Thursday, May 28. Library Chat and Ask a Librarian will be available on our website between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies, music, learning, and more direct to your phone or tablet with the Digital Library. And be sure to visit Libby app where we'll make the very popular title Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden available with no wait time.

📢 Update: Main Library Closures
Greenwich Library (Main Library only) will close early at 4PM today, Thursday, May 21, and will remain closed on Friday, May 22 due to a maintenance issue. We’ll keep you posted on reopening updates.

The Byram Shubert and Cos Cob branches will operate with normal hours on Friday, May 22.

Reminder: All Greenwich Library locations will be closed as scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.

👀 Where’s Waldo? Apparently all over Greenwich Library! Turns out Waldo wanted to explore the Library as much as possible before we close for Memorial Day Weekend. Can you spy all of the hiding spots?

Plus, enjoy these Waldo (or Wally?) fun facts:

📖 The first Where’s Wally? book was published on June 25, 1987, in the UK but was later introduced in the U.S. as Where’s Waldo?

👩 Wilma, Wally’s original girlfriend, was later replaced by her identical twin, Wenda.

🎬 Waldo has appeared in TV series, films, video games, cereal boxes, and weekly comic strips.

🌍 The Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Waldos is 4,626 people, set in Japan on October 8, 2017.

📚 You can find multiple copies of 7 different Where’s Waldo? books available to check out at the Libraries in town!

🎏 We celebrated Kodomo no Hi (Children’s Day) on the Children’s Floor at Greenwich Library on May 5! This meaningful Japanese holiday honors children’s personalities, celebrates their happiness, and wishes them health and strength.

🇯🇵 Inspired by the day, festive touches were added to the Library’s Children’s space, from colorful carp streamers (koinobori) to a samurai doll display (gogatsu ningyō), symbolizing protection against sickness and evil, and encouraging resilience and success in life.

🛡️ Last week, we hosted the the 3rd Annual Learn Before You Leave: A College Safety Panel at Greenwich Library, in collaboration with the Rowan Center and GHS students!

💙 This candid discussion brought together experts Ellen Brezovsky (Kids In Crisis), Leonora Campbell (The Rowan Center), Magdalena Silver (UConn Police Department), and Eric Borman (Yale Emergency Medical Services), who shared valuable real‑world advice, current data, and practical tools to help students stay safe on campus. The conversation was thoughtfully moderated by Greenwich High School student Nora Stern.

🎭There are a few spots still available in tomorrow's Sat. 5/2, 3pm program for teens: Theater Games and Improvisation at Greenwich Library! This fun, high‑energy workshop for students in grades 6–12 uses theater games and improv to build confidence, creativity, and teamwork.
