🌳 Unbe-TREE-vable! 🚴🏽 Cyclists + 🌱Planting = IMPACT in . Volunteers from the TREE (Tree Research and Education Endowment) Fund assisted City of Greenville Parks and Recreation staff and community members with planting 1300 native trees and shrubs in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood across the street from Loxley Park.

The group is conducting a Tour De Trees Bike Ride. Volunteers traveled from as far as London, Montreal, Toronto and Boston to participate. πŸ‘‹πŸ½ Safe travels. ⛰️ Don’t let the Blue Ridge Mountains get the better of you!

"It was a trying time, wondering who was here and who was gone," said Richard Welliver, a retired FDNY firefighter who lives in . Three of Welliver's four sons are firefighters and the other works for Greenville County EMS.

The Welliver sons were children on 9/11/2001. They don't remember the terror attacks, but they knew their dad and his co-workers were doing something difficult. "They knew that people needed help and they made the decision to go," said Tyler Welliver.

The calling to selflessly serve others is the legacy the Welliver family carries twenty-five years later.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, the Greenville Police Department Honor Guard held a flag-raising ceremony at the Thomas and Vivian A. Wong Honor Tower at Unity Park. The tower and the Liberty Bridge at Falls Park will be lit red, white and blue through the weekend.

Cascades Verdae hosted an appreciation breakfast for city first responders.
