Rest in peace, Gloria Steinem, a powerful second-wave feminist activist, author, and an ally of q***r and trans communities.

“We all must fight against the unnecessary barriers placed on trans women and girls by lawmakers and those who co-opt the feminist label in the name of division and hatred.” —Gloria Steinem

The actor thinks the iconic superhero could be gay or bisexual, so we made a list of out actors we'd like to see to climb our walls.

Bisexuality isn't a 50/50 split or a "still figuring it out" phase. It's attraction that isn't limited to one gender, and it looks different for every bi person. Someone's bisexuality doesn't shift depending on who they're dating or who they like.

This Bisexual Awareness Month, let's retire the myths and celebrate the truth: bi people have always been here, whole and valid, exactly as they are.

To every bisexual person in our lives — thank you for your love, your honesty, and your whole, valid self. We're lucky to be loved by you.

We are mourning the loss of Gloria Steinem, who died yesterday at the age of 92. 💔

For more than half a century, Gloria Steinem helped change the way our country talked about women, equality, power and freedom. She challenged systems that told women to be quieter, smaller and more willing to accept the world as it was and she spent her life imagining and working toward something better.

Her advocacy extended beyond the women’s movement. She stood with LGBTQ+ people, spoke out against discrimination and understood that the struggle for equality is connected and that none of us are truly free when someone else’s dignity or freedom is denied.

But perhaps one of the most beautiful things she understood was that movements cannot belong to one person or one generation.

She once said:

“I’m not giving up my torch, but using it to light the torches of others, because if we each have a torch, there’s a lot more light.”

What a legacy.

The people who change the world eventually leave us. But the light doesn’t have to leave with them.

They light a torch in someone else.

And that person lights another.

And another.

Until there is more light than any one person could ever have made alone.

Thank you, Gloria, for refusing to accept that the world had to remain as you found it. Thank you for the doors you pushed open, the voices you helped amplify and all those torches you lit along the way.

We’ll keep carrying the light. 🩷

Yesterday, PFLAG Columbus and PFLAG Dayton co-hosted Ohio’s candidate forum alongside Equality Ohio, Stonewall Columbus, and other partner organizations! We’re so proud of the PFLAG members, families, and allies who came from across the state to speak directly with lawmakers, ask questions about their positions on LGBTQ+ issues, and share their priorities for LGBTQ+ legislative protections.

Learn how you can get informed, get prepared, and make an impact as we get closer to Election Day at pflag.org/pflagvotes

To the LGBTQ+ families and communities in Ohio: PFLAG has your back. 🏳️‍🌈

If your LGBTQ+ kid tells you that you aren’t being “supportive enough” ask them to tell you one or two things that will make them feel supported, affirmed and celebrated. 💕

Feeling wholeheartedly supported by family helps protect LGBTQ+ youth from depression, suicidal ideation and substance abuse.

LGBTQ+ youth who feel wholeheartedly supported and celebrated by their parents are more healthy and whole physically, mentally and emotionally. They do better in school, make healthier choices and grow up to be more well adjusted adults.
