Our team members recently spent a day volunteering at Greenville County Animal Care. They walked dogs, helped socialize kittens and puppies, made treats, and stocked the organization’s pet pantry. They also delivered gently used blankets and towels donated by Greenville Water team members.

The visit was part of Pour It Forward, our volunteer program that gives team members paid time to support organizations throughout Greenville County.

Providing quality water is our primary responsibility, but serving the community also means supporting the organizations that care for it every day.

Earlier this week, we received a message from a community member who witnessed one of our team members step in when a truck carrying a father and child was partially stopped on railroad tracks as a train approached:

As the train horn blew and the gates came down, “the man in the Greenville Water vehicle jumped out and started waving to the people on the other side to pull up farther, so the truck on the tracks could move to safety. If your guy had not done that, I have no doubt the back of that truck would've been smashed to pieces.”

That team member was Lance, one of our Field Services Representatives. We are incredibly proud of him for recognizing the danger, acting quickly, and helping the father and child get to safety.

Devin is one of the Greenville Water team members who helps make sure water is there when you need it.

As a Water Treatment Operator, he tracks demand, monitors water quality, and keeps a close eye on the treatment process.

Devin’s interest in water treatment began while he was working in maintenance at a small water utility in Illinois. Seeing the operators in action made him want to become one himself. When a position opened at our Stovall Water Treatment Plant, he applied. Five years later, he’s worked his way up to Water Treatment Operator III, and In 2024, WEASC named him the Blue Ridge Foothills District Water Operator of the Year.

Who better to help shape Greenville Water’s future than the people who know our work firsthand?

That’s why CEO Jeff Boss uses our monthly Birthday Breakfast to hear directly from team members across the organization. They shared what’s working, where we can improve, and how we can better serve our communities.

Jeff also spoke about Greenville Water’s future plans and presented each team member with a card featuring our mission and values. That card is a reminder that, no matter their role or department, their work makes a difference.

A water service interruption never fits neatly into anyone’s schedule. Quick and transparent communication provides customers with context so that they can understand what’s happening and plan accordingly.

That’s why we’ve introduced a new GIS-based system that automatically identifies customers affected by planned work or emergency repairs and sends phone or text alerts with details about the interruption and expected restoration time.

What previously took at least 15 minutes can now be completed in seconds, providing you with faster, more accurate info. It’s one example of how we’re using innovative solutions to work more efficiently and continually improve the service we provide to you.

To make sure you don’t miss a service alert, call our Customer Service team to confirm we have your current contact information.

The Table Rock reservoir is one of three places your tap water comes from.

Greenville Water owns both the Table Rock and North Saluda watersheds. By keeping the land around these reservoirs private and protected, we’re able to safeguard our water sources and help ensure high-quality drinking water for our community.

Your water can also come from Lake Keowee, which is owned by Duke Energy. The lake provides exceptionally high-quality source water, sharing many of the same characteristics as our private reservoirs.
