Greenville County Soil & Water Conservation District The District is unique in that we are governed by a local commission and funded through county and state government allocations as well as private donations.

Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District are leaders in conservation awareness, urban and land use planning, sustainable agriculture, and water quality protection. The Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District protects natural resources through public education, land and water conservation programs, and cooperative efforts with partner organizations. Commission meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month and are open to the public.

We are excited to join the SC Adopt-A-Stream network as a Kit Loan Location! Please reach out to loan a freshwater or macroinvertebrate kit, and to learn more about our new monitoring group and sites.

Water quality monitoring helps find and solve problems in the environment, and connects us with our local watersheds. Volunteering encourages engagement and awareness of stormwater pollution in Greenville County. High school students, teachers and mentors interested in gaining skills in natural resources are invited to learn what Envirothon is all about through upcoming field days!

Thank you to those who counted pollinators this weekend in Greenville and beyond! Although it was a bit overcast, our visitors at Conestee Nature Preserve counted over 200 insects including bees, wasps, flies, and butterflies. The Great Southeast Pollinator Census occurs once per year, but the Great Sunflower Project is year-round. If you are interested in counting pollinators, stop by the Hughes Main library to loan a pollinator community science kit.

*TOMORROW!* Drop in at Henderson Meadow for the Great Southeast Pollinator Census! Explore the meadow and count pollinators to contribute to research about the health and conservation of the insects that sustain our ecosystems and agriculture. No experience necessary- we will provide all materials and instructions.

Enjoy youth and family activities! Make a seed ball, win a prize with pollinator bingo, journey as a monarch butterfly, and more.

Parking is located at the 601 Fork Shoals Rd entrance. Please walk the short trail to Henderson Meadow.

THANK YOU to Greenville Water for sponsoring a successful Project WET professional development for Greenville County Schools K-12 teachers! Community organizations Greenville Water, SC Adopt-a-Stream, PalmettoPride, Greenville County Soil and Water, and Roper Mountain staff partnered last Friday at Roper Mountain Science Center for Splashing Into STEAM With Water Education: an initiative to engage schools, teachers and students in local watershed education and stewardship. Thanks to the sponsorship, teachers received the new Water in Earth Systems curriculum guide, complimentary lunch and T-shirt, local educational resources, and activity kits.
