Anderson County also had a great many supporters come out and speak at their meeting. Seeing that the most recent Puppy Mill and Back yard breeders sold in that county at the Jockey Lot (which is a rather large Flea Market with an area designed specifically for the sale of companion animals), the community should also be up in arms. I am glad to see they are. Ill treatment of animals is far too overlooked. I peeked over on their Facebook wall and I have to tell you that I am as stunned at what some people still find acceptable. I love flea markets, I am one of the early birds that loves to go and find a bargain. What I do not love is buying or supporting the sale of sick animals. It is obvious that some folks would rather send PM's or slander persons character than look at the facts. Fact is many are sick, many are not. Lucky for those that are not. But even the people that buy the healthy ones, do they not want to see where the parents reside? Do they not want to see how they are handled and how they are kept? If some of the breeder that sell at a Flea Market are proud of their animals and they way they are breeding, then show off your pride and joy...they should have no reason to hide, get defensive or launch personal attacks. If I own a business and allow other retailers to sell at my establishment you better believe I will have them checked out prior...it is called basic common business sense..if you allow an activity, you are also condoning it. Basic truth! Out of the 50+ Breeders I have contacted and asked if they sell their animals at a flea market or a road side they all said and I quote, "Are you kidding me", "no way, we run a clean ship and do not want our name associated with that"....So for those of you that are still missing the point of Eli's Law...it is not an Anti Breeding Law...it is to ban the sale of companion animals at Flea Markets and all other outside venues...I was always told if you did noting wrong, there is also no need for a defense. I see a lot of defensive comments....Many of the flea market owners we asked why they allow this, the answer was simple, why not? We also have one that e-mailed me back today I will be speaking to regarding banning the sale at his establishment. No rude snarky comments, no threats with hot air..we are sitting down like civilized adults discussing the potential issues...I have found that in a civilized society that is how you get things done! Facts, data to back up said facts...so please I asked you again...unless you have something to contribute in a civil manner, refrain from posting the nonsense that tends to clutter up the feeds..thanks so much!
