National Literacy Month gives us another opportunity to remember and honor Dolly Parton and the lasting legacy she created through her Imagination Library. 📚❤️

The impact of a child receiving books at home can be powerful. One study found that after receiving just 10 books, children enrolled in the program were at least 4x more likely to demonstrate stronger literacy skills!

Every book is a new adventure, a chance to learn, and a step toward a brighter future. See if your neighborhood qualifies for free books by visiting greenvillefirststeps.org/freebooks.

Read It, Then Do It! 🎨

As we kick off National Literacy Month, let’s turn story time into playtime! 📚✨ After reading a favorite book together, extend the story with a simple activity you can do at home.

Reading, talking, creating, and playing together all help build early literacy skills—and make learning fun along the way! ❤️

Our community signed on to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 2019 to give our children the best start in life. Inspired by Dolly Parton’s own dad, who couldn’t read or write.

Every month, 4,800 children in Greenville County find a book in the mailbox — because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all.

While our hearts are incredibly sad today, we’re more inspired than ever to continue this important mission. Together, we are building a brighter future for our children.

Thank you for supporting our work and Dolly’s legacy.
