Greenville Professional Firefighters assisted station 75 Transfer with a 40 x 40 garage fire.

While lining up for today’s Memorial Day Parade, Greenville Firefighters were approached by a vehicle owner requesting assistance with a kitten trapped behind the grill of their vehicle.

Firefighters carefully dismantled portions of the grill and were able to safely remove the kitten. With the assistance of crews from EmergyCare, the kitten was cleaned up and treated for minor injuries before being returned to its owners. Thankfully, the kitten is expected to make a full recovery.

Incidents like this are a reminder that firefighters never truly know what type of call or task they may be asked to handle on any given day. From emergencies large and small, your firefighters stand ready to help however they can. No task is too small, and no challenge is too large for these dedicated professionals when it comes to serving the community.

Today, members of Greenville Firefighters Local 1976 were proud to participate in our community’s Memorial Day Parade as we joined residents in honoring and remembering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Memorial Day is more than just a tradition, it’s a time to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of the courage and selflessness of our nation’s heroes. We are incredibly honored to stand alongside our community in paying tribute to those who gave everything in service to our country.

From all of us at Greenville Firefighters Local 1976, thank you to all veterans, active military personnel, and especially the fallen heroes we remember today. 🇺🇸

Update: At 6:00am, roadway has reopened, all crews are clear of the scene.

Traffic advisement: At 5:25am, Clinton St between S Mercer St and Frederick R Anderson will be temporary closed due to a motor vehicle accident vehicle while crews operate on scene.

🚒 Progress Inspection & Building Familiarization – Schoolhouse Commons🚒

On Tuesday, February 10, Greenville Firefighters conducted a progress inspection and building familiarization walk-through at the new Schoolhouse Commons, currently under construction at 35 W. Main Street.

Our crew met with a representative from Hudson Construction and completed a full walk-through of the structure. During the visit, firefighters gathered important information and began the pre-incident planning process to ensure we are fully prepared once the building is complete and occupied.

Early coordination during construction allows us to identify access points, fire protection systems, utility locations, and other critical features that help us respond more efficiently and safely in the future.

We look forward to seeing this project come to completion — it will be a great addition to the Greenville community.
