We have received several reports of people in the community receiving phone calls from individuals claiming to be with our department, stating they have legal issues or outstanding warrants, and they can be taken care of by issuing payment through Venmo or PayPal. They are using names of our actual deputies in these calls which make them more convincing. As a reminder, our office, nor any other law enforcement office, will contact you by phone and ask for payment to "take care of" any charges, warrants or court dates you may or may not have. You will also not be contacted to pay a bond over the phone for someone who is currently in jail. If you are unsure as to whether you have a court date or a warrant, or receive any other call from law enforcement that seems suspicious, please call our office (270-338-3345) or central dispatch (270-338-2000) for information.
