Congratulations to Anna Woody, flight nurse with EastCare Children’s Transport, for receiving the AAMS Eileen Frazer Spark Award! The Spark Award recognizes emerging leaders in out‑of‑hospital patient care who bring bold, transformative ideas that could reshape the air medical industry. This is an incredible honor and a proud moment for EastCare and EastCare Children’s Transport.

We’re also proud to celebrate Jessica Yelverton, assistant director of Children’s Advanced Practice at ECU Health, and Joel Fisher, regional maintenance manager at Metro Aviation, who were both recognized as 40 Under 40: Rising Leaders in Medical Transport for their contributions to the medical transport industry and their emerging leadership in the field.

These honors highlight the exceptional talent, dedication and leadership within our programs and region. Congratulations to Anna, Jessica and Joel on these well-deserved recognitions, and thank you for representing EastCare, EastCare Children’s Transport and ECU Health on the national stage!

We are to share the EastCare Children’s Transport Team has received the AAMS Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Award of Excellence!

This recognition belongs to the entire team and reflects the dedication, clinical expertise and teamwork that goes into caring for critically ill infants and children every day.

Bringing team members together at AMTC is about more than attending a conference. It’s an opportunity to learn from one another, connect with colleagues from across the medical transport community, and bring back best practices in patient care, transport safety, communication, education, and technology that can strengthen the care we provide to patients and families across our region.

We’re to have the EastCare Children’s Transport helicopter showcased at the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC)!

This week, members of the EastCare and EastCare Children’s Transport teams will join medical transport professionals from across the country to learn, collaborate and share their own expertise. We’re excited for a great week at AMTC and proud to represent ECU Health and the patients and families we serve across eastern North Carolina.

Recently, ECU Health EastCare alongside other public service agencies in Carteret County joined forces to highlight the importance of public safety education through a video produced by Carteret Community College.

We reviewed landing zone operations, helicopter utilization by EMS, and hand-off reports to the flight crew. We are grateful for our partners across the region for their collaboration in serving eastern North Carolina.

For the past several years, we've participated in the Prehospital Airway Control Trial (PACT) alongside the University of Pittsburgh, helping shape the future of airway management in emergency care.

This work represents more than research—it’s a promise to the communities we serve that the care we provide is rooted in evidence, driven by improvement, and focused on better patient outcomes.
