On National Voter Registration Day, September 15, 2026 (9am - 3pm), the City of Greenville, in partnership with Greenville Fire Department, City of Greenville Parks & Recreation, and Greenville, MS Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., is encouraging eligible residents to get registered, update their information & make sure they are ready to make their voices heard.

🎓 CONGRATULATIONS, GREENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 2001! 🎓

Tonight, Mayor Errick D. Simmons had a special honor to welcome home and celebrate the historic Greenville High School Class of 2001 on its 25th Class Reunion — “A Night in Noir.”

This class holds a unique place in Greenville history as the final graduating class under the original Greenville High School name before the school became Greenville-Weston High School. You did not simply graduate—you closed a chapter, carried a legacy, and became part of our city’s history.

Excerpts of Mayor Simmons’ Words to the Class

“Twenty-five years later, you are still standing, still striving, still growing, still becoming, and still connected. Tonight, we celebrate not only how far you have come, but everything you overcame to get here.

Your best days do not have to be behind you. There are still dreams to dream, mountains to climb, lives to change, purpose to fulfill, and history to make. Twenty-five years down—a lifetime of purpose ahead. We celebrate where you’ve been, we celebrate who you’ve become, and most importantly, we celebrate where you’re going.”

Mayor Errick D. Simmons extends his heartfelt thanks to the Pablo Foundation for its partnership and leadership with the Mayor’s Health Council in bringing our community together for the 2nd Annual Su***de Awareness Walk for Hope.

Statement of Mayor Simmons

“This walk is about more than awareness—it is about hope, healing, compassion, and reminding people that they are not alone. Mental health matters, every life has value, and sometimes simply showing up, listening, and connecting someone to help can make a life-changing difference.

Thanks to Pablo Foundation and Ms. Remelda Lewis, Mayor’s Health Council Coordinator. I also thank our participating vendors and community partners—WellCare, Mississippi Family Residency Clinic, Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services, Rainbow Lady, and the Greenville Fire Department—for providing resources, information, and support to our residents.

Together, we are breaking the silence, reducing the stigma, and building a Greenville where people know that it is okay to ask for help, there is strength in seeking support, and there is always hope.

We walk for those we have lost. We walk for those who are struggling. We walk for families. And most importantly, we walk for HOPE.”

“Today, twenty-five years later, time has passed, but our duty to remember has not. We honor those we lost, we salute the heroes who answered the call, and we recommit ourselves to the unity that reminded us that we are one nation and one people.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, honor the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger, and recognize the men and women who continue to serve and protect our communities every day.”

The City of Greenville is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Mayor’s Youth Council!🎓🏛️

The Mayor’s Youth Council gives young people an opportunity to become more involved in their community, learn about local government, and develop leadership skills that can make a lasting impact.

Through the program, students will have opportunities to engage with city leaders, participate in community service initiatives, explore real issues affecting Greenville, and gain valuable experience in leadership, teamwork, public speaking, problem-solving, and civic engagement.
