We are proud to support students at East Texas A&M donating menstrual supplies to the Lion Pantry and helping bring awareness to the reality of period poverty.

We love helping Days for Girls and those young ladies over seas!

However, period poverty is a real issue in the United States, too. Many students and individuals face challenges accessing basic menstrual products, which can impact their health, confidence, education, and ability to fully participate in daily life. We are also donating to the Boys and Girls Club in Greenville and school nurses when classes go back for the fall.

Every donation helps remove barriers and reminds others that this is a need worth addressing. Together, we can support dignity, education, and opportunity for all. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ **Happy Flag Day!** ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, June 14, we celebrate **Flag Day**, honoring the adoption of the United States flag by the Continental Congress in 1777. Our flag stands as a symbol of freedom, unity, and the enduring ideals upon which our nation was founded.

As we display the Stars and Stripes, we recognize the generations of Americans who have worked, served, and sacrificed to protect the liberties it represents. Flag Day is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, celebrate our nation's achievements, and look forward to a future built on hope and opportunity.

Take a moment today to proudly display your flag and appreciate the values it symbolizes for communities across our country.

โค๏ธ World Blood Donor Day โ€“ June 14 โค๏ธ

Today we celebrate World Blood Donor Day, a global opportunity to recognize and thank the voluntary, unpaid blood donors whose generosity helps save lives every day.

A safe and reliable blood supply is an essential part of a strong healthcare system, providing critical support for surgeries, cancer treatments, trauma care, childbirth, and many other medical needs. Every donation has the potential to make a life-changing difference for patients and their families.

On this World Blood Donor Day, we honor the selfless individuals who give the gift of blood to help people they may never meet. Their compassion strengthens communities and offers hope when it is needed most.

๐Ÿฉธ Give blood. Save lives. Be someone's hero.

๐Ÿ“š Literacy changes lives.

When people can read confidently, they gain access to better educational opportunities, employment, healthcare information, and so much more. Yet many children and adults in our community still need support in developing strong literacy skills.

๐Ÿ’™ You can make a difference:
โœ… Volunteer as a reading mentor
โœ… Donate books to local literacy programs
โœ… Read with a child for just 20 minutes a day
โœ… Support organizations that promote literacy

What are your favorite summertime reads?

Together, we can help build a stronger, more literate communityโ€”one reader at a time.

Play Makes a Better World!

Play is more than just funโ€”it is essential for learning, growth, and well-being. Through play, children develop creativity, confidence, problem-solving skills, emotional resilience, and meaningful relationships that help them thrive throughout life.

This year's theme, "Protect Play, Protect Childhood," reminds us that every child deserves the opportunity to play, explore, imagine, and grow in safe and supportive environments.

๐ŸŒŸ Play helps children:
๐ŸŽจ Spark creativity and innovation
๐Ÿค Build friendships and social skills
๐Ÿ’ก Develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
โค๏ธ Strengthen emotional well-being and resilience
๐Ÿ“š Enhance learning and academic success

Play also brings people together across cultures, communities, and generations, promoting inclusion, understanding, and peace.

As we celebrate the International Day of Play, let's champion opportunities for children to learn through play, enjoy time with family and friends, and experience the joy that helps shape healthy, happy futures.

Because when children play, they learn. When they learn, they grow. And when they grow, they help build a better world.๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’™ World Oceans Day โ€“ June 8, 2026 ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒŠ

The ocean is the heart of our planet.

Covering more than 70% of Earth's surface, the ocean produces at least 50% of the oxygen we breathe, supports incredible biodiversity, and provides a primary source of protein for more than one billion people worldwide. It also powers our global economy and supports millions of livelihoods.

Yet our oceans face unprecedented challenges:
๐ŸŸ 90% of large fish populations have been depleted
๐Ÿชธ 50% of coral reefs have been lost
๐ŸŒŽ Pollution, overfishing, and climate change continue to threaten marine ecosystems

This year's World Oceans Day theme, "Reimagine," challenges us to rethink our relationship with the ocean. The ocean is not separate from usโ€”it is connected to every breath we take, every meal we enjoy, and the climate that sustains life on Earth.

๐ŸŽ๐ŸŒ **World Food Safety Day โ€“ June 7** ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŽ

Food safety is everyoneโ€™s responsibility! Every day, millions of people rely on safe food to nourish their families, support their health, and sustain their communities.

Did you know?
๐Ÿ”น An estimated 600 million people suffer from foodborne illnesses each year.
๐Ÿ”น 420,000 deaths worldwide are linked to contaminated food annually.
๐Ÿ”น Children under age 5 bear nearly 40% of the global burden of foodborne disease.

Food safety matters at every step of the journeyโ€”from farm to table. Proper production, handling, storage, preparation, and consumption practices help prevent foodborne illnesses and protect the health of individuals and communities.

We recognize the importance of working together to prevent, detect, and manage food safety risks. Safe food supports better health, stronger economies, food security, and sustainable development for all.

โœ… Wash hands and surfaces frequently
โœ… Keep raw and cooked foods separate
โœ… Cook foods to safe temperatures
โœ… Refrigerate perishables promptly

Together, we can help ensure that the food on every table is safe to eat.

Period poverty is more than a statisticโ€”it impacts the health, education, and confidence of young women every day.
As this Days for Girls graphic shows, states across the country receive different grades for addressing period poverty and ensuring access to essential menstrual products. While there is still much work to be done, Altrusa Greenville is proud to be part of the solution.

We have helped both internationally and young women here in Hunt County by providing menstrual supplies to those who need them most. Every young woman deserves the dignity, confidence, and opportunity that comes with having access to basic hygiene products.

๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒ **Happy World Bicycle Day!** ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Today we celebrate the bicycleโ€”not just as a mode of transportation, but as a powerful tool for connection, opportunity, and sustainability.

A bicycle fosters creativity, encourages social engagement, and helps us stay connected to the world around us. It provides access to education, health care, recreation, and employment while promoting healthy lifestyles and stronger communities.

As a symbol of sustainable transportation, the bicycle supports responsible consumption, reduces environmental impact, and contributes to a healthier planet. Every ride is a reminder that small actions can make a big difference for our climate and our future.

World Bicycle Day also highlights the spirit of peace, friendship, inclusion, and mutual understanding that cycling brings to communities around the globe. Whether riding for transportation, fitness, recreation, or competition, bicycles unite people of all backgrounds and ages.

So today, take a ride, enjoy your local surroundings, and celebrate the simple machine that continues to change lives and communities for the better.
