The past couple years have been hard on many, and current events continue to create emotional confusion and turmoil for some. It is a tough time and we understand that some of our Soldiers and Airmen have developed invisible wounds during their service. We want you to know that you are not alone, and support is available if you need help. Taking the time and making mental health a priority has never been more important than it is now. It takes personal courage to seek help, and we encourage all of our Soldiers, Airmen, retirees, and families to get the help they deserve.
The South Carolina National Guard Behavioral Health Care Line can be reached at 1-800-681-2558; the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline can be reached at 1-800-273-8255; the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs has many resources available for Veterans. They are happy to share resources in our state and beyond for those seeking any type of assistance or counseling. Veterans or military members are welcome to email them at [email protected], or call 803-734-0200.
We ask that you look out for your Battle Buddies, Wingmen, and family members and refer them to these resources if help is needed. As leaders, we must get our mission done, but we cannot do it without our people - each and every one of you matter.
Sincerely,
R. Van McCarty
