🚨ARREST MADE IN 1986 MURDER OF CHELSIE YVONNE MOSS🚨

Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit made an arrest in connection with the 1986 murder of 18-year-old Chelsie Yvonne Moss. Chelsie’s body was discovered in the woods off Fair Street and Kerns Avenue in Greenville on April 7, 1986, after foul play was suspected in her death and was subsequently ruled a homicide by blunt force trauma.

In February of 2023, the Greenville County Cold Case Unit began looking into the unsolved death investigation of Chelsie Moss. After three and a half years of investigative work, the GCSO Cold Case Unit was able to substantiate probable cause following forensic testing through the State Law Enforcement Division’s DNA lab, connecting the suspect to Moss’s death.

Today, the GCSO Cold Case Unit provided justice for Chelsie and identified her killer, 64-year-old Ronnie Lee Williams. Williams, who is currently incarcerated in the South Carolina Department of Corrections on unrelated Homicide charges from a murder conviction in 1989, has been charged with Murder and is awaiting a bond hearing on the new charge.

Since its inception, the Cold Case Unit has solved 16 Cold Case Homicides, proving that their work is never done. Sheriff Lewis commends the time, energy, and dedication that this unit has devoted to providing long-awaited justice for Chelsie and her family.

“No matter how many years passed, our investigators remained committed to serving justice for Ms. Moss. Today, their resolve directly contributed to another solved case and ultimately additional closure for her family.”

Greenville County Sheriff’s Office - Cold Case Unit is still actively gathering information in the case. Chelsie was known to frequent Pendleton St. and the West End in Greenville. If you knew Chelsie or encountered her, we encourage you to reach out. No detail is too small.

If you have information about Ronnie Lee Williams, the people he knew, or where he was during these years, you can anonymously reach out to Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 23-CRIME.
